Weekend with Jason

For my journal entry on the weekend with Jason in Tokyo

WOAH! Hey there Buddha!

Angel among homeless

THE ANGEL IN SHINJUKU

So this is one of those paintings on the sides of the boxes of the homeless. See, I said they were beautiful. I have a picture of the whole scene on an earlier picture page - check it out.

Buddha!
THE BUDDHA GUY AGAIN (with me)

OK, now how do I explain this picture? Jason and I were exploring Hino (around my place) and our first stop (OK, second) was this Buddha guy. So we walk up to the base of the guy, and Jason kinda dares me to go sit in his lap. And since I never turn down a (reasonable) dare... there I am. Of course, as soon as I get down, we notice this guy walking up the stairs towards us. Oh shit! Is he coming to tell us off?? What if I *really* offended the guy, I mean, this is their GOD. So we panick. Jason and I start talking about whatever.. as in "Oh, isn't this just so nice" and we're suddenly interested in all the minute details of the statue... anything to prevent this guy from saying anything to us.

Anyways, as it turns out, I don't think he saw me. Nothing to worry about. But now, I feel a bit bad about making light of Buddha, although it's a fun picture, ne.

LOVE & me, together in Shinjuku

This is a great sculpture in middle of an intersection in Shinjuku. This was probably the most peculiar of intersections that I've ever encountered. First of all, it was one of those circular thingees (roundabouts?), and I believe there was center circle. But the lights were neat... they weren't on your regular posts. They were embedded in a cement arc which was 30 feet off the ground. Very cool. Very hard to explain. But anyways, this is LOVE and I.

Altavision

ALTAVISION

This is in Shinjuku as well. It's a humungous TV screen called Altavision. Or maybe it's the Altavision building. Whatever. Anyways, it's really big. And curiously enough, this is the most popular meeting place in Shinjuku. But there's so many people meeting there that I think you'd have a hard time. But hey, do like the Japanese.

Oh yeah, I'm eating a pineapple popsicle. Jason and I spent a lot of time that weekend eating popsicles. It's a truly bonding experience. I'm sure he would agree. Anyways, I look like I'm enjoying it.. uh huh!

THE BUILDING THAT'S A CITY

This is the building that they call a city. OK, it's the hollow core of the building that's a city. Pretty neat, huh? This building's got just floors and floors of shops, and restaurants, etc, but it has the appearance of a business skyscraper as opposed to your regular shopping mall. Maybe that's because it's 50-something floors tall...

So it has a hollow centre, which is it's main feature. That, and the diamond stores, or something like that. Since diamonds were a bit out of our budget that weekend (uh - we hadn't gotten paid yet), we skipped the stores, and just went up to the building's viewing gallery. Tres cool.

And that's all for the weekend pictures for now..
