The Imperial Gardens Day

For my journal entry describing the Imperial Gardens day

The Imperial Garden Donjon

THE DONJON

So here I am, on top of the ruins of the Imperial Palace Donjon. It seems like it used to be some big building, although I'm not so sure exactly *what*. If Japan were an English country, I'd be inclined to say that this used to be the dungeon, but... well, I'm not so sure about that theory! Anyways, the actual picture is of the Imperial Gardens East - the only gardens you're actually allowed to visit. They're really nice.. clean, and well-tended. They actually close the gardens at night, so I suppose they clean up then. Neat-o.

And here's a picture of some place in the gardens. There were so many different sections and places to go! It was iris season when I went, so there were just tons of people there taking pictures of the flowers. And there were shrines, and other things in there as well.

THE IMPERIAL GARDENS EAST

Yet another pic of the Imperial Gardens. They're so incredibly green! I mean, this place is in the heart of downtown Tokyo, yet they're just really peaceful.

The moat around the Imperial Palace

THE MOAT

Oh, this moat is SO COOL. It goes around the whole Imperial Palace, which is very big, to say the least! And the moat itself is really beautiful with the trees, and things like that!

THE MOAT

Once again, this is the moat. That building perched on the edge of the ravine there is some kind of lookout station.. you know, for battle and stuff. I mean, this moat is oooold. Well, by Canadian standards at least! I think it must have been built at least 300 years ago...
